Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools issued the following announcement on October 21.
OCTOBER 21, 2021 – Our PTA team at Morgan Elementary School hosted its first Fun Run event in nearly two years this last Friday, October 15.
It was a day filled with excitement as each grade level ran separately out onto our field and through a giant orange tunnel behind the school. There was also a smoke machine that the students ran, skipped, and walked through to add some flair to the day.
Music filled the air, provided by a local DJ, which kept teachers, students and family members in attendance moving to the tunes! Colorful wigs that the students earned through fundraising pledges were worn, along with many teachers, which just added another layer of fun!
The fifth-graders got to experience a color run and parent volunteers tossed color powered into the air for them to run through. What a colorful rite of passage as they head off to middle school next year.
Our biggest moment of pride came with raising $7,000 OVER our fundraising goal of $45,000.
Fun 5The monies raised from this event will go towards upgrades in a lot of our outdoor learning areas, including some new blacktop games, additional seating for both our outdoor classroom and lunch room areas, and also includes adding two additional water bottle filling stations to the school.
We are so thankful to our Morgan Elementary Community who really helped us put together an incredibly fun day with an amazing outcome that will serve our entire school!
