Cost of college went up for all students at Salem College

Tuition and fees rose 2.1 percent for 2018-19 at Salem College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

North Carolina students paid $29,166 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year – $600 more than the $28,566 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 98 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 157 students received grants or scholarships totaling $4.6 million and 117 students took out student loans totaling more than $688,379.

Including all undergraduates (842), 746 students used grants or scholarships totaling $16.4 million, and 606 students took out $4.3 million in federal student loans.
