38 percent of applicants to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts were admitted for fall 2018

At the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, 95 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 53 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Winston-Salem enrolled 1,042 students in fall 2018, including 890 in undergraduate and 152 in graduate programs, data shows. 4.2 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

47 percent of undergraduates are residents of North Carolina, and 50 percent are residents of other states. 3 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (71 percent) and Black or African American (9 percent).

The school admitted 38 percent of the 1,185 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 54 percent enrolled.
