39 percent of applicants to Salem College were admitted for fall 2018

At Salem College, 79 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 97 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Winston-Salem enrolled 842 students in fall 2018, including 704 in undergraduate and 138 in graduate programs, data shows. 6.1 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

73 percent of undergraduates are residents of North Carolina, and 24 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (54 percent) and Black or African American (17 percent).

The school admitted 39 percent of the 755 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 35 percent enrolled.
