Looking for a location to work remotely? Two cities in North Carolina may be a great spot to consider for setting up that home office, a report from a finance website said.
Piedmont Triad area cities Winston-Salem and Greensboro made FinanceBuzz's list for "25 Best Cities for Newly Remote Workers Who Value Affordability."
Winston-Salem ranked No. 15 on FinanaceBuzz's list, while Greensboro was ranked in the 22nd position, FinanceBuzz reported on July 22 about its findings. Landing the top spot was Kansas City, Missouri, was ranked No. 1 on the list. The remaining Top 5 included Milwaukee; Lubbock, Texas; Philadelphia and San Antonio.
To create the list, FinanceBuzz considered many different statistics to comprise their list.
The cost of living was the biggest factor in creating the list. One benefit of working remotely is being able to maximize a paycheck if the employee is living in an area that has a lower cost of living. FinanceBuzz also calculated WiFi speed into the mix given that need for online access is critical to work from home. The report also calculated delivery availability, transportation if needed and market affordability.
In selecting Winston-Salem at No. 15, FinanceBuzz highlighted the community's low cost of living, attractions and being able to walk throughout the city's downtown that is "packed with craft breweries, museums and shopping." One of the highlights for the 22nd-ranked Greensboro is being "a family-friendly city with tons of activities for kids."
Also making the Top 25 list from North Carolina were Charlotte at No. 13, Raleigh at No. 10 and Durham ranked 6th.
