A Forsyth County nonprofit is doing its part to provide as much data related to COVID-19 as possible through a new dashboard that is updated weekly.
The Forsyth Futures' "Community Briefing: The Local Impact of COVID-19" dashboard primarily focuses on economic data — which is in line with the nonprofit's mission to conduct research and data analysis to help with county planning and policy.
“As we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, local economic conditions are evolving faster than can be measured using the data sources we typically rely on to inform community decision making,” a synopsis about the dashboard said on the Forsyth Futures’ website.
The dashboard, which is updated weekly, includes information on the “Monthly Employment by Sector,” “Initial Unemployment Claims’ and the “Unemployment Rate in Forsyth County,” according to the dashboard website.
"In order to respond effectively to the local COVID-19 crisis, our community needs access to reliable community information in as real-time as possible to inform the action steps that will be taken in the coming weeks and months," Forsyth Futures Executive Director Adam Hill told winstonsalem.com for a July 15 report about the informational website. "The research findings show that people of color living in Forsyth County are more likely to experience economic harm than White residents from COVID-19-related economic shocks like losing a job or having unexpected medical bills."
