St. Andrews University claimed a decisive 14-4 victory over Carolina University, thanks to a dominant performance in the fifth inning. Carolina initially took the lead with three runs in the first inning, including a two-run homer by Robbie Smith and an RBI single from Danny Gonzalez.

St. Andrews responded swiftly, narrowing the gap to 3-2 in the second inning after C. Santucci’s two-run double. The third inning saw J. Zambito hit a two-run home run, putting St. Andrews ahead for the first time at 4-3.

The pivotal moment of the game occurred in the fifth inning when St. Andrews scored ten runs. G. Wolff’s two-run double initiated this surge, followed by K. Treece’s grand slam that widened their lead significantly. G. Wolff concluded the scoring spree with a solo home run, bringing the score to 14-3.

Carolina managed one more run in their half of the fifth through Alejandro Rodriguez’s RBI double but failed to add further as St. Andrews’ bullpen held them scoreless for the remaining innings.

Notable performances included R. Smith from Carolina with a home run and two RBIs and K. Treece from St. Andrews with four RBIs and a grand slam.

Carolina will attempt to recover on March 7th against Bluefield State at Truist Stadium in Winston-Salem.
