A new bill filed by State Rep. Donny Lambeth in the North Carolina House seeks to provide funding for multiple community and development projects in the Triad region, according to the North Carolina State House.
The bill, filed as HB 817 on April 7 during the 2025 regular session, was formally listed with the short title: ‘Triad Regional Grants.’

In essence, this bill appropriates $14.525 million from the General Fund for the 2025-26 fiscal year to support various grants benefitting the Triad region. Funding allocations include $50,000 for mobile medical clinic services by Hasten International, Inc.; $250,000 for facility expansion by Camel City Track Foundation; $500,000 for fertility treatment aid by the Samantha and Kyle Busch Bundle of Joy Fund; $1.2 million to enhance the Piney Grove Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department’s capabilities; and $1.5 million for improvements at Winston-Salem Speedway. Other allocations include $200,000 for the North Carolina Folk Festival in Greensboro; $5.325 million for renovations at Historic Bethabara Park; $1.5 million for Forsyth County’s Cure Violence program; and $4 million to Creative Corridors Coalition for constructing the Peter Oliver Public Park. The act takes effect July 1, 2025.

Bills in North Carolina follow a multi-step process before becoming law. A lawmaker starts by filing a bill, which is assigned to a committee for review. The bill must be read three times in each chamber. If one chamber changes the bill after the other passes it, both must agree on the final version.
