Minority- and women-owned businesses in North Carolina can take part in an online training session to assist with certifying or re-certifying as historically underutilized businesses (HUB). The session is scheduled for Tuesday, April 29, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The training will offer an interactive experience, allowing attendees to ask questions during the presentation. Business owners interested in attending are encouraged to register through the Eventbrite link accessible at CityofWS.org/MWBE.
Participation in certification with the state’s HUB office opens doors to more business opportunities in state procurement and contracting. Businesses that are HUB-certified are included in the Vendor Link system. This system is relied upon by state agencies, universities, community colleges, local schools, and other institutions to find historically underutilized businesses for various needs including goods and services. Notably, obtaining HUB Certification is free and remains valid for four years.
In Winston-Salem, M/WBE firms must have HUB certification to be considered toward the M/WBE commitment for city projects at the submission time of a proposal.
Registration for the session is obligatory.
