The Neighborhood Services Department’s Lending Division announced on May 14 that it is offering the Transforming Urban Residential Neighborhoods (TURN) rehabilitation program for eligible homeowners in Winston-Salem. The program provides financial assistance of up to $65,000 for housing rehabilitation through a five-year forgivable loan to low-to-moderate-income households.
The initiative aims to support property owners who may need help maintaining or improving their homes. According to the announcement, the residence must be a single-family detached home, townhome, or condominium unit located within the city limits of Winston-Salem. Other requirements include being current on property taxes or having a payment plan with the Forsyth County Tax Department, not having any pending foreclosure or bankruptcy cases, and maintaining homeowners’ insurance on the property.
Residents interested in learning more about TURN are encouraged to attend one of four community meetings scheduled throughout May. These meetings will take place at local community centers from May 18 through May 21 between 6 and 7 p.m. Applications for TURN will be accepted from June 1 through June 30, with additional information available at CityOfWS.org/276.
The City of Winston-Salem serves as a municipal government overseeing public services and civic functions for its residents; it also supports economic development by aiding businesses and fostering community growth according to the official website.
