FOIA Request to Forsyth County Tax Administration Regarding Property Tax Records 2024 – Present on May 12, 2025.
We, at the Winston Salem Times, have submitted a formal request under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. ยง132-1., seeking access to property tax records within Forsyth County for the year 2024 and any available data for 2025. Our request specifically includes details such as Parcel ID, Year, Tax Value, and Assessed Value.
As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we emphasize the importance of transparency and accountability in public institutions. Access to these records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities in informing the public and holding government entities accountable.
In our request, we have also highlighted our eligibility for a fee waiver as members of the media. This aligns with our commitment to disseminating information that serves the public interest.
Additionally, we are affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that aids media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. More information about this coalition can be found at [https://stopsecrecy.org/about/](https://stopsecrecy.org/about/).
We await a response from Forsyth County Tax Administration and remain open to addressing any questions they might have regarding our request.
