Dave Clawson has been appointed as an Executive Affiliate with the Allegacy Center for Leadership and Character at the Wake Forest School of Business. Known for his significant contributions to Wake Forest Athletics, Clawson served as Head Coach of WFU Football for 11 years. During his tenure, he led the team to seven consecutive bowl appearances, an Atlantic Division title in 2021, and achieved the program’s first-ever top 10 national ranking in back-to-back seasons. His teams not only excelled on the field but also maintained academic excellence.

Clawson is noted as the only coach to have won at least 10 games in a season at four different Division I schools: Fordham, Richmond, Bowling Green, and Wake Forest. This new role follows his impressive 25-year career as a head coach and 36 years in college football.

In his position as an ACLC Executive Affiliate, Clawson will engage in various activities such as serving as a guest speaker in classes across different academic programs, coaching students and student teams, assisting in enhancing the Deacon Leader System to support the Athletic Department, co-teaching select lessons in the MIL 122 Foundation of Leadership course during spring, participating in programmatic panel discussions or capstone course boards, mentoring students, faculty, or staff as needed, and aiding the ACLC in strategic planning and program development.

The School of Business anticipates that Clawson’s involvement will significantly contribute to developing leaders of character.
