The City of Winston-Salem announced on May 20 that city offices will be closed Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.

The closure affects several city services and facilities. CityLink 311, the resident customer service center, will not be open on the holiday. However, non-911 emergency calls will be forwarded to on-call staff in the appropriate department. Residents seeking routine information or services can submit requests by email to citylink@cityofws.org, through the CityLink 311 mobile app for processing when offices reopen Tuesday, May 26, or by texting 855-481-LINK (5465) for an immediate response.

Garbage collection schedules will remain unchanged during the week of May 25. Yard-waste and recycling collections will shift by one day; Monday routes move to Tuesday and so forth, with Friday recycling collected on Saturday, May 30. All landfill facilities will be closed during this period. The city’s 3RC EnviroStation facility is also scheduled to close Saturday, May 23 and Monday, May 25.

Residents are encouraged to download the Winston-Salem Collects app from either the Apple Store or Google Play for personalized alerts about collection days. Additional information is available by contacting CityLink at citylink@cityofws.org or calling (336) 727-8000. Updates can also be received through Alert Center and News Flash subscriptions at CityOfWS.org/NotifyMe.
