The Carolina University Women’s Volleyball team will travel to Augusta, Georgia, for a match against Paine College on Tuesday, November 4. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
The Bruins are looking to recover after a difficult weekend where they lost matches to Johnson University (Tenn.) and Milligan University in their final tri-match of the season. With the postseason approaching, this upcoming contest provides a chance for the team to regain momentum before the end of regular play.
Throughout the season, Carolina has demonstrated depth and balance with contributions from several players. Setter Syvannah Poore has led the offense by distributing the ball among multiple hitters. Middle blockers Melia Coleman and Kammi Naude have contributed steady scoring, while defensive specialists Kai Horta and Valeria Suarez have supported the back row with consistent defense and serve-receive.
Earlier in the season, Carolina defeated Paine College in straight sets at Williams Gymnasium. In that match, Carolina achieved a .230 team hitting percentage and recorded 17 aces on serves.
Paine College enters Tuesday’s matchup still seeking its first win of the season. In their previous meeting with Carolina on September 2 in Winston-Salem, Jamaya Allen led Paine with eight kills and Makayla Evans provided 11 assists. Although Paine finished that match without registering a positive hitting percentage as a team, they showed moments of strong net play.
Head Coach Chelsea Jones emphasized preparation ahead of Tuesday’s game. “We had a tough weekend, but this group is resilient,” said Jones. “Our emphasis is on bouncing back with energy and composure. We’ve proven what we can do when we play together and communicate. Tuesday is about getting back to that standard.”
