The Carolina University Women’s Volleyball team has been awarded the 2025 AVCA Team Academic Award by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Sponsored by INTENT, this award recognizes collegiate and high school volleyball programs nationwide that achieve a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale during the academic year.
Established in the 1992–93 academic year, the AVCA Team Academic Award celebrates program-wide academic excellence. The Carolina University Bruins were among 1,450 programs to meet the criteria for the award during the 2024–25 academic year. This achievement highlights their dedication both in sports and academics.
During the same season, the team captured the NCCAA South Regional Championship and reached the NCCAA National Tournament while maintaining high academic standards. This is their third consecutive recognition as an NCCAA Scholar Team.
Head Coach Chelsea Jones expressed her pride in her team’s accomplishments: “This award reflects the balance our team achieves—competing at a high level athletically, while thriving academically. It’s a culture we’ve worked hard to foster, and it’s an honor to see it recognized nationally.”
Carolina University continues to uphold its reputation for both academic and athletic excellence. The Women’s Volleyball team will begin their 2025–26 season on August 29 at the Cumberlands Invitational Tournament in Williamsburg, Kentucky, led by Coach Jones.
