Carolina University’s women’s volleyball team is set to begin its participation in the 2025 Maroon Classic, hosted by Roanoke College in Roanoke, Virginia. The tournament opens on Friday, September 5, with the Bruins scheduled for two matches at the Cregger Center.

The first match will see Carolina face Salem College at 5:00 p.m., continuing a regional rivalry. Salem enters the event seeking early-season momentum, while Carolina aims to make an impact defensively and establish control at the net.

At 7:00 p.m., Carolina will play its second match of the day against Brevard College. The Tornados are known for their athleticism and fast-paced play. Carolina’s strategy will focus on maintaining a balanced attack and adapting across rotations. Setters and hitters are expected to work on keeping offensive rhythm as defensive players prepare to counter Brevard’s offense.

Head Coach Chelsea Jones emphasized the importance of this early-season tournament for her team’s development. “The Maroon Classic as an opportunity to sharpen team chemistry and gain valuable experience against non-conference opponents,” Jones said. She noted that playing two matches in one day would test the team’s stamina, focus, and execution.

The Maroon Classic continues through Saturday, when Carolina University is scheduled to compete against Methodist University and North Carolina Wesleyan University.
