After a decisive 4–0 win against Toccoa Falls College on Senior Night, the Carolina University Bruins Women’s Soccer team is preparing for its last regular-season game. The team will face Emory & Henry College on Wednesday, October 29, in Emory, Virginia. This match will be the Bruins’ final opportunity to prepare before the start of the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) Tournament next week.
Carolina University currently holds a 4–9–3 record. The team has gained momentum recently, winning four of its last six games. Over the season, the Bruins have scored 22 goals. Sophomore midfielder Alexa Anderson leads with six goals, while sophomore forward Natalie Puskar has added four. Freshman McKenna VonCannon and junior Peyton Battilla have each contributed three goals.
The defensive unit has also improved throughout the season. Freshman goalkeeper Waleska Gonzalez has made 39 saves and achieved three clean sheets in her 15 appearances. The Bruins’ defense was key during recent back-to-back shutout wins over Bob Jones, Toccoa Falls, and Bluefield State earlier this month.
Emory & Henry College comes into Wednesday’s non-conference match with a 7–4–3 record and will play at home. The Wasps are known for their disciplined defense and efficient offense.
Head Coach Boo Tesh commented on his team’s progress: “Our team has battled through adversity and continued to improve every match,” said Tesh. “We’re finishing the season playing some of our best soccer, and this trip to Emory & Henry is a great opportunity to carry that momentum into the conference tournament.”
Kickoff is set for Wednesday at 5 p.m.
