The Carolina University Women’s Soccer team began their Continental Athletic Conference schedule with a 5–3 defeat against Florida National University on Thursday evening. The match took place at the Grizzly Soccer Complex in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Florida National started the game strongly, scoring twice within the first ten minutes. Carolina University responded with a goal from Chelsea Prescott in the 15th minute, her first of the season. Cheyenne Brittain scored just before halftime to tie the match at 2–2.

Early in the second half, Alexa Anderson put Carolina ahead 3–2 with her fifth goal of the season. Florida National then regained momentum, scoring three unanswered goals over the remainder of the match to secure victory.

Carolina outshot Florida National by a margin of 13 to 11 and earned seven corner kicks while conceding none. Goalkeeper Waleska Gonzalez made five saves during the contest.

“I was proud of the way our team battled and kept believing,” said Head Coach Boo Tesh. “We showed resilience coming back from an early deficit and continued to fight until the final whistle. There were a lot of positives to take away offensively, and we’ll use this as motivation to keep improving as conference play continues.”

The Bruins are scheduled to play again on Friday at 4:00 p.m., facing Georgia Gwinnett College as they continue their road trip in Georgia.
