The Carolina University women’s basketball team hosted a CAC pod at Williams Gymnasium from January 22 to January 24, facing Washington Adventist University and Fisher College. The Bruins split the two-game stretch, losing to Washington Adventist before rebounding with a decisive win over Fisher.
On Thursday, Carolina played against Washington Adventist and lost 94–73. MeiLani Patterson led the Bruins with 18 points, while Angelina Jordan scored 17 and Dearia Page added 14. Washington Adventist gained control in the second quarter and maintained their lead for the rest of the game.
Carolina responded on Saturday by defeating Fisher College 87–14. The Bruins took an early lead with a 25–3 first quarter and held Fisher scoreless in the third quarter. Jakyiiah Willis and Tynilla Simpkins each contributed 15 points, while Dearia Page and Angelina Jordan both scored 11. The team forced 29 turnovers and converted them into 40 points.
Head coach Hannah Latiolais commented on her team’s performance: “I was proud of how our group stayed together and responded after Thursday,” Latiolais said. “Saturday showed the standard we’re capable of playing to—defensively locked in, sharing the ball, and playing with energy for four quarters. That’s the kind of effort we want to build on moving forward.”
The Bruins finished the weekend with a record of one win and one loss in CAC play.
