After securing their first win of the season against Paine College on November 22, the Carolina University Women’s Basketball team is set to resume play following a Thanksgiving break. The Bruins will face Livingstone College on Wednesday, December 3, at 5:30 p.m. in Salisbury, North Carolina.
Led by Head Coach Hannah Latiolais, Carolina enters the matchup with a 1–6 record after navigating a challenging early schedule that included several nationally ranked NAIA opponents. Despite the tough start, the team showed improvement in their recent victory over Paine, achieving a season-best field goal percentage of 43.5% and making nine three-pointers. The Bruins also collected a season-high 48 rebounds during that game.
“We’ve played a demanding schedule early, and it has really pushed our group to grow,” said Coach Latiolais. “Coming off our first win and time to reset over the break, we’re excited to get back on the floor and continue building our identity. The team is hungry, and we’re trending in the right direction.”
Through seven games this season, Carolina averages 64.4 points per game and collects more than 40 rebounds each contest. Junior guard Dearia Page leads the scoring for the Bruins with an average of 11.1 points per game and a total of 78 points so far.
Defensively, Carolina has averaged 7.4 steals and 2.6 blocks per game this season—figures that contributed to their win at Paine College. The coaching staff is focused on improving rebounding efforts and reducing turnovers as they move into December.
Livingstone College comes into Wednesday’s contest with an 0–4 record and will be seeking its first win of the year at home. For Carolina, this game represents an opportunity to build on recent progress.
“We want to come out with energy, discipline, and confidence,” Latiolais added. “Our players are beginning to understand what it takes to compete at a high level. Wednesday is another step in that process.”
The Bruins will aim for their second consecutive victory as they look to gain momentum heading into the core stretch of their season.
