Carolina University’s women’s basketball team is set to continue its early non-conference schedule with a road game at Montreat College on Saturday, November 8. The matchup, scheduled for a 5 p.m. tipoff, will be the Bruins’ third consecutive away game to start the 2025–26 season.
The Bruins are seeking to gain momentum after two competitive games against Georgetown College and WVU Tech. So far this season, Carolina University has averaged 61.5 points and 47.5 rebounds per game. Graduate guard Sy-Marieona Williams leads the team in scoring with a total of 30 points over two games, while Dearia Page and MeiLani Patterson have contributed 27 and 19 points respectively.
Head Coach Hannah Latiolais, who is in her first year with the program, commented on the team’s approach ahead of the weekend contest. “We’ve seen good stretches of basketball and effort through our first two games,” Latiolais said. “Our goal is to keep tightening the details — especially on the defensive end — and to bring consistent intensity for four quarters. Every trip on the road early in the year is an opportunity to grow and learn who we are as a team.”
Montreat College holds a record of 1–3 following its recent win over Oakland City by a score of 77–64. The Cavaliers’ offense is led by Rymiah Sanders, averaging 17.5 points per game, along with Bayleigh Winkler at 11.8 points per contest.
This weekend’s game will be the first meeting between Carolina University and Montreat College this season as Coach Latiolais aims for her first victory with a roster that includes four returning players and thirteen newcomers.
