After beginning their season with three consecutive away games, the Carolina University Women’s Basketball team will play its first home game of the 2025–26 season on Tuesday, November 11. The Bruins, under new Head Coach Hannah Latiolais, will host Rio Grande (Ohio) at Williams Gymnasium with tipoff set for 5 p.m.

Carolina enters the matchup with an 0–3 record, coming off a close 91–88 loss to Montreat College. The team demonstrated improvement in offense during that game, achieving its highest scoring output so far this season. Coach Latiolais emphasized her team’s determination to continue building on these efforts as they return to their home court.

In their first three games, the Bruins have averaged 70.3 points per contest. Guard Sy-Marieona Williams leads the team in scoring with an average of 20.3 points per game and has made ten three-pointers this season. Forward Dearia Page is contributing consistently with averages of 15 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. MeiLani Patterson and Ja’Nisha Caldwell are also making key contributions to the offense.

The upcoming opponent, Rio Grande, comes into the contest undefeated at 2–0 and is recognized for its efficient offensive play in NAIA women’s basketball. The RedStorm average over 100 points per game while shooting more than 50 percent from the field and over 36 percent from beyond the arc. They lead NAIA teams in assists and are second in steals per game.

Coach Latiolais commented on her team’s progress: “We’ve shown flashes of who we can be,” Latiolais said. “Now it’s about stringing together full quarters of effort, rebounding as a team, and capitalizing on the opportunities we create.”

The Bruins are averaging more than 48 rebounds per game and plan to use their strength on the boards to counter Rio Grande’s fast-paced style. A win would mark Carolina’s first victory this season and could help set a positive tone for upcoming games.

Tipoff is scheduled for Tuesday evening at Williams Gymnasium as Carolina seeks its first win of the campaign.
