Carolina University women’s basketball team began the 2026 calendar year with a loss to No. 12 Lindsey Wilson College, falling 105–67 on Saturday at Biggers Sports Center in Columbia, Kentucky. The matchup was the Bruins’ first official game after the Christmas break and saw them face a Blue Raiders team that held a 12–2 record going into the contest.
The opening quarter was competitive, with both teams exchanging baskets before Lindsey Wilson pulled ahead to lead 20–13. In the second quarter, Lindsey Wilson increased their advantage by focusing on efficient shooting and controlling play near the basket, resulting in a 50–31 halftime score.
Carolina returned from halftime with renewed energy. The Bruins hit four three-pointers in the third quarter and maintained offensive pressure. However, Lindsey Wilson’s depth and strong rebounding extended their lead further. Carolina finished strong with a 19-point fourth quarter but could not close the gap.
Angelina Jordan led Carolina’s scoring efforts with 22 points, including seven three-pointers while playing all 40 minutes of the game. Dearia Page contributed 15 points, and Jakyiiah Willis added 14 points along with three steals. As a team, Carolina shot nearly 40 percent from the field and made eleven shots from beyond the arc.
Head coach Hannah Latiolais reflected on facing a nationally ranked opponent for their first game back: “Lindsey Wilson is a very talented and experienced team, and they exposed some areas we need to clean up,” Latiolais said. “I was proud of our effort and how we continued to compete, especially coming off the break. This game gives us a clear picture of where we need to improve as we head into the heart of our schedule.”
The Bruins will continue non-conference play when they travel to face Campbellsville on Sunday, January 4.
