Carolina University’s women’s basketball team faced No. 3 Campbellsville University on Sunday, January 4, at the Powell Athletic Center in Kentucky. The Bruins concluded a difficult back-to-back road series with a 113–28 loss to the Tigers, who came into the game holding a 15–1 record.
Campbellsville established an early lead and maintained control throughout the contest. Carolina had played just one day earlier and was met with another strong opponent to begin the new year.
Angelina Jordan led the Bruins’ scoring with 11 points. Dearia Page and MeiLani Patterson each contributed five points, while Tynilla Simpkins added four points off the bench along with a team-high 12 rebounds.
Head coach Hannah Latiolais addressed the challenges of playing top-ranked teams. “These games test us in every way,” Latiolais said. “Playing teams like Campbellsville on the road exposes areas where we need to grow, but it also shows us the standard we’re chasing. Our group continues to work and stay together, and that’s important as we move forward.”
The Bruins will return home for their next game at Williams Gymnasium on Wednesday, January 7, against Spartanburg Methodist College at 6 p.m., hoping to regroup after their demanding road schedule.
