The Carolina University women’s basketball team secured a 72–61 win against Morris College in a conference matchup held at the Garrick-Boykin Human Development Center in Sumter, South Carolina, on January 17. This victory follows their recent success over Elizabeth City State University and brings their overall record to 4–14, with a 2–1 standing in conference play.
Carolina established an early lead, finishing the first quarter ahead 19–13 and maintaining a four-point advantage at halftime. The team widened the gap during the third quarter by outscoring Morris College 23–15.
Dearia Page led all players with 24 points and collected 17 rebounds for a double-double. Angelina Jordan contributed 19 points, including four three-pointers, while Jakyiiah Willis added 15 points with efficient shooting. MeiLani Patterson provided eight points, nine rebounds, and three blocks. Carolina finished with a slight edge in rebounding, winning that battle 44–42.
Head coach Hannah Latiolais commented on her team’s performance: “Conference road games are never easy, and I was proud of how our team stayed disciplined and played together for four quarters,” Latiolais said. “We defended well, shared the ball, and made timely plays when it mattered. This group continues to grow, and today was a good step forward for us.”
The Bruins shot nearly 37 percent from the field and made nine of their twenty attempts from beyond the arc. Their balanced scoring and defensive effort prevented Morris College from closing the gap late in the game.
Looking ahead, Carolina University will host a CAC pod as they continue conference play on January 23-24.
