Carolina University’s men’s basketball team, seeded eighth in the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) tournament, achieved a significant victory by defeating top-seeded Florida College 86-80. The game took place on February 27, 2025, at the Coffin Complex in Lawrence, Kansas.

In the first half, Carolina University established a strong lead with a score of 39-29. Davon Cottle contributed significantly to this advantage with 12 points and two rebounds. The team’s defense was effective in restricting Florida College’s offense to just 29 points during this period.

During the second half, Florida College attempted a comeback by outscoring Carolina University 51-47. However, Carolina managed to maintain their lead until the end. Aundree Polk was instrumental in securing the win with a double-double performance of 25 points and 15 rebounds. Zivko Damjanovic also played a crucial role by adding ten points and five rebounds.

Key performers for Carolina included Aundree Polk with “25 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists,” Davon Cottle who scored “14 points” including three three-pointers, and Zivko Damjanovic who contributed “10 points” and five rebounds. Chris High added eight points and five rebounds to the team’s efforts.

Florida College’s leading scorers were Johnny Torrence with “17 points off the bench” and Nate Duda who added “15 points.” Despite their efforts in the latter part of the game, they could not surpass Carolina University’s performance.

Following this upset victory, Carolina University will advance to the CAC tournament semifinals. They are set to compete against either Fisher College or Northern New Mexico College on March 1st.
