Carolina University faced challenges during the St. Thomas Invitational on March 2, 2025, as they were defeated in straight sets by both Webber International and St. Thomas (FL).

In their first match against Webber International, Carolina lost with scores of 16-25, 17-25, and 23-25. Despite a strong effort in the third set, Webber’s effective offense and service game proved too challenging for Carolina.

Key players for Carolina included Jamison Johnson with 7 kills and a .500 hitting percentage, Moses Nix who contributed 5 kills and a block, and Kai Jamerson who recorded 2 service aces. However, Carolina struggled offensively overall, managing only a .045 team hitting percentage compared to Webber International’s .247.

Later in the day, Carolina faced St. Thomas (FL) and again fell in straight sets with scores of 17-25, 15-25, and 10-25. The Bobcats’ aggressive play kept Carolina on the defensive throughout the match.

Darren LoweGaillard led Carolina with 9 kills and a .538 hitting percentage. Jashawn Sykes added 6 kills and an ace while Friedrich Hall hit .300 with 4 kills. Despite some solid individual performances, Carolina was unable to maintain momentum against the tournament hosts.

Following these matches, Carolina University’s record stands at 2-8 for the season. They aim to regroup as they prepare to face North Greenville on Saturday, March 8th at 2 pm.
