Carolina University hosted Bluefield University for a baseball series at Truist Stadium and Rich Park, securing two wins out of three games. This result improved Carolina’s season record to 5-9, while Bluefield fell to 1-17.

In the first game on March 7th, Bluefield dominated with a 17-4 victory. Their offense was strong from the start, scoring eight runs in the initial innings. J. Germosen and N. Diaz were key players for Bluefield, with Germosen hitting a home run and a triple, while Diaz contributed a double and multiple RBIs. Carolina’s pitching struggled, with Derek Martinez conceding eight runs.

Paxton Tucker and A. Delgado led Carolina’s efforts to rally, but G. Peel’s pitching for Bluefield limited their opportunities by allowing only three runs over six innings.

The second game on March 8th saw Carolina win narrowly by 4-2. Kaleb Whitaker was crucial for Carolina with his complete-game performance, allowing just two hits and striking out eight batters. Despite some defensive errors, timely hits from Paxton Tucker and Alejandro Rodriguez secured the win for Carolina.

The final game ended in an 8-6 victory for Carolina after Danny Gonzalez hit a three-run home run early in the game. Although Bluefield responded with N. Diaz’s grand slam in the third inning, Carolina managed to regain control by adding five more runs in subsequent innings.

Alex Prevost earned the win for Carolina by pitching effectively towards the end of the game while Jamie Winecoff closed it out.

Carolina University’s series win against Bluefield showcased strong performances from key players across all games as they prepare to face Columbia International University next at Rich Park on March 12th.
