Carolina University’s men’s basketball team will return to Williams Gymnasium on Monday, aiming to recover from a close 82–81 overtime defeat against Montreat College. The Bruins, led by Head Coach Jacob Heck, currently have a 2–7 record this season, with three of those losses coming in overtime.
The upcoming game is scheduled for 4:00 PM and will see the Bruins host Brewton-Parker College. Earlier this month, the two teams met in Mount Vernon, Georgia, where Brewton-Parker secured a 73–64 win after pulling ahead late in the second half. In that contest, Shawn Woodson led Carolina with 16 points while Tristan Kuska contributed 13 points and six rebounds. Zay Scott added ten rebounds as Carolina outperformed Brewton-Parker on the boards by a margin of 42–33 despite losing the game.
Statistically, Carolina has shown strengths in several areas this season. Woodson averages 14.8 points per game and Kuska follows closely at 14.2 points per game; both players have been consistent contributors offensively. As a team, the Bruins maintain an average rebounding margin of +10.3 over their opponents.
Brewton-Parker enters Monday’s matchup with a 6–2 overall record but is coming off a recent loss to Spartanburg Methodist. The Barons won their previous meeting with Carolina through balanced scoring and significant bench contributions—most notably Jakobe Jones’s 21-point performance. Limiting transition opportunities and turnovers will be key for Carolina after Brewton-Parker scored 28 points off turnovers in their last encounter.
Despite setbacks earlier in the season, the Bruins have shown progress and determination by taking several games into overtime or close finishes. With support from their home crowd and recent strong individual efforts, they aim to even the season series against Brewton-Parker before moving further into non-conference play.
Tipoff is set for Monday at 4:00 PM inside Williams Gymnasium.
