Carolina University men’s basketball team is set to play a non-conference game against Montreat College on Tuesday, December 16, in Black Mountain, North Carolina. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m.
The Bruins come into the matchup after a recent win over Alice Lloyd College on December 9, where they secured a 75–70 victory. This was their first conference game of the season and ended a short losing streak, putting them at 1–0 in league play.
Head coach Jacob Heck has seen his team make progress this season, especially on offense. The Bruins are averaging 78.8 points per game and shooting 46.2 percent from the field. They have also maintained a strong presence in rebounding with an average margin of +10.4 per game.
This will be the second meeting between Carolina and Montreat this season. Their previous encounter took place on November 25 at Carolina’s home court and resulted in an overtime win for Montreat, who edged out the Bruins by one point with an 82–81 final score.
Reflecting on their last performance, Carolina’s victory over Alice Lloyd highlighted their ability to control rebounds and make important free throws late in the game—factors that could be significant as they face Montreat again.
The upcoming contest offers Carolina University an opportunity to build on its recent success and try to even the season series with Montreat College.
