Carolina University’s women’s basketball team faced a setback in the conference tournament, losing 67-61 to Spartanburg Methodist. The game took place on February 27, 2025, at the Coffin Complex in Lawrence, Kansas. Carolina University entered the tournament as the #4 seed but could not withstand a strong second-half performance from #5 seed Spartanburg Methodist.

In the first half, Carolina led early with a score of 14-9 after the first quarter, limiting Spartanburg Methodist to just 25% shooting. However, Spartanburg Methodist came back in the second quarter, outscoring Carolina 19-10 and taking a 28-24 lead into halftime. Key contributions for Carolina included Le’Asia Matthews with seven points and three rebounds and Nadia McDowell-Jacks also adding seven points. Jabarria Brown contributed four rebounds while Bianca Gonzalez provided three assists to support their offensive efforts. JaiDah Liebert was notable for Spartanburg Methodist with eleven points in the first half.

During the second half, despite Carolina’s efforts to regain control of the game, Spartanburg Methodist held their ground. Bianca Gonzalez made significant contributions by scoring all twelve of her points in this period, including two crucial three-pointers in the fourth quarter.

The standout performers for Carolina were Bianca Gonzalez with twelve points and four assists; Alaysia Kidwell who scored twelve points and secured nine rebounds; Felesia Ondongo contributing eleven points and six rebounds; and Le’Asia Matthews who added ten points along with five rebounds and four assists. For Spartanburg Methodist, JaiDah Liebert was exceptional with thirty-one points while Krystal Johnson supported with nine points and five rebounds.
