Despite the cancellation of their game against Morris, Carolina University held a ceremony this past weekend to honor its graduating baseball seniors. The event recognized the commitment and achievements of these players who have spent years dedicated to the program. Surrounded by teammates, coaches, and family members, it was an occasion for reflection and celebration as the seniors look towards their future endeavors.
The senior class of this year has shown a diverse range of talents, all of whom have significantly contributed to the Bruins baseball program. Abdiel Santana, illumed as the heart of the team for five years and soon a graduate with a Master’s in Business, is setting his sights on a music career at Berklee College of Music. Teammate Avery Adams also plans to further his education with an MBA while working as a Graduate Assistant, with aspirations in coaching and business ownership.
Angel Martinez, during his two years with the team, shared memorable experiences like the week-long playoff trips and intends to pursue general contracting. Jovany Pedraza Mendez, a four-year member, is poised to explore the opportunities his Business Administration degree provides, cherishing memories such as the Fall World Series victory.
Other seniors like Chase Locklar and Elias Nurideen plan careers in coaching and forensic psychology respectively. Locklar graduates with degrees in Biology and Leadership, taking with him memories of strong brotherhood forged during the road trips. Nurideen reflects fondly on last season’s home sweep and graduates in Psychology.
Jamie Winecoff, AJ Callaway, Elijah Carter, and Alex Noll have detailed a wide array of aspirations, from careers with Duke Energy to coaching baseball, taking away treasured experiences from their collegiate baseball days. Notably, Jamie Winecoff recalls the regional trip to Jacksonville while Callaway looks forward to his September wedding.
Xavier Stewart, Kenny Cunningham, and Donovan White also leave a rich legacy within the program, with Stewart recognized for his dedication in Computer Science, Cunningham focusing on mentoring children, and White heading to Wake Forest for his MBA after memorable highlights during his playtime.
Previously honored Kaleb Whitaker and Alexiel Delgado are also duly recognized for their contributions.
Carolina University has acknowledged these seniors not only for their on-field excellence but for their leadership and sportsmanship. As these graduates advance to various professional and personal pursuits, they are celebrated for their enduring impact on the Bruins baseball family. Their legacy is sure to inspire future Carolina University baseball players.
