Carolina University Men’s Basketball faced Brewton-Parker in a home rematch at Williams Gymnasium on December 1, following an earlier nine-point road loss to the Barons. The Bruins started strong, keeping pace with Brewton-Parker during the first ten minutes of play. Both teams exchanged baskets and defensive stops, with the score tied several times.
However, late in the first half, Brewton-Parker gained momentum and went on a 23–12 run, leading 47–35 at halftime. In the second half, Carolina University continued to compete, led by Zay Scott who recorded 12 points and six rebounds, and Tristan Kuska who contributed 12 points and eight rebounds. DJ Evans added 11 points and played a key role in guiding the offense.
Despite outscoring Brewton-Parker in the paint (44–46), Carolina was unable to overcome their opponent’s shooting performance. Brewton-Parker finished the game shooting 60.7% from the field, which proved decisive as Carolina fell 84–66.
Head Coach Jacob Heck commented on his team’s effort: “We came out with the right energy and matched their toughness early,” Heck said. “But against good teams, every possession matters. Brewton-Parker made a strong run to end the first half, and we couldn’t quite recover. I’m proud of our group’s effort, and we’ll use this to get better as we move deeper into the season.”
Carolina University will have a week off before returning to play Alice Lloyd College at home on Tuesday, December 9.
