The Carolina University Bruins baseball team secured a weekend sweep over Fisher College, winning both games on April 11 at Rich Park, according to an April 12 announcement.
The victories highlight the team’s strong performance as they continue their season in conference play. The wins are significant as the Bruins look to build momentum for upcoming matchups and maintain their standing within the Ohio Athletic Conference.
In the first game, Carolina won 11-4 after responding to an early deficit with a four-run second inning and maintaining control throughout. Ty Vespe led with three hits, while Danny Gonzalez contributed two home runs and three runs batted in. Paxton Tucker pitched nearly seven innings for the win, and Grant Polk closed out the game.
The second game ended with a 9-5 victory for Carolina following a seven-run fourth inning that shifted momentum decisively. Chandler Smithart had three hits including a home run, Alexis Fontanez added another homer with three RBIs, and Gonzalez continued his offensive streak. Kolden Hunter earned the win on the mound while Polk again finished the game.
Associate Head Coach Logan Conklin said: “We did a great job carrying over the energy from Friday into Saturday. Our lineup stayed aggressive, and our pitching staff gave us quality innings in both games. It’s encouraging to see us put together complete performances as we head into another important stretch.”
