Carolina U splits doubleheader against Pfeiffer; faces St. Andrews next

Carolina University and Pfeiffer University competed in a baseball doubleheader on March 1, 2025, at Joe Ferebee Field in Misenheimer, North Carolina. The two teams ended up splitting the day’s games.

In the first game, Pfeiffer University secured a win with a score of 7-5 against Carolina University. Thad Lewis led Pfeiffer’s pitching efforts, delivering seven innings with only two hits and no earned runs while striking out twelve batters. Hunter Huneycutt contributed significantly to the offense by going 1-for-3 with three RBIs. Joe Javier and Austin Wood each scored two runs for Pfeiffer. A key moment for Carolina was when A. Fontanez hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning. Dylan Dula closed the game for Pfeiffer with a save.

The second game saw Carolina University bounce back to defeat Pfeiffer 12-7. A grand slam by A. Delgado in the eighth inning highlighted Carolina’s offensive power. Additionally, A. Rodriguez had an impressive performance, going 4-for-5 with three RBIs. K. Logan was credited with the win for Carolina, while M. Kelley finished strong by closing with a perfect ninth inning. The pivotal moment came during the sixth run of the eighth inning, which broke the tie and ensured victory for Carolina. Despite the loss, Joe Javier stood out for Pfeiffer by going 3-for-5 with two RBIs.
